Make-A-Wish Central New York is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Founded in 1985, Make-A-Wish Central New York has granted nearly 1,900 once-in-a-lifetime wishes for children facing daunting medical conditions. The organization believes in the transformative joy a wish can bring and is determined to reach every eligible child within its 15-county footprint, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
WHY A WISH?
Wishes are nice gestures, but they’re also way more than that. Wishes give children with critical illnesses a chance to dream. They provide a happy reprieve from treatment and sickness, and offer a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the extraordinary. Indeed, wishes are powerful medicine: They provide kids the opportunity to step outside their illness and experience transformative hope and joy.
As Make-A-Wish Central New York embarks on its 35th year of wish granting, it faces more wishes in its pipeline than ever before. But local wishes can only come true through the generous support of local communities. Join us and Make-A-Wish Central New York and transform lives, one wish at a time!
